Abstract

A view of Excavation JS 2(b) on the Southern Terrace viewed from the south in 1934

Description

The stone terrace walls and steps on the Southern Terrace (the base of Mapungubwe Hill from the south) as exposed in Excavation JS 2b in 1934. A stone terrace wall is visible in the test trench in the foreground. In the middle, a lower terrace wall is covered by a gravel floor, with a stone terrace entrance and steps on top of it. The steps are partially crushed by a collapsed rock on the right. The part of Mapungubwe Hill with the ascent to the top of the hill, hidden by a fig tree, is visible in the background
